September 2 CHARITY is applying business lessons from the Master The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart. ~ 1 Samuel 16:7 Jesus is an excellent model for the business leader, and it is possible to apply His approach to the workweek. In three years, He demonstrated a radical form of servant leadership that created spectacular results with otherwise ordinary people, thereby transforming the course of human history. Jesus launched His vision with twelve followers. Now, 1.9 billion people worldwide consider Him their leader. As a leader, Jesus served. He told His disciples, “Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all (Mark 10:43-44).” Therefore, serve others by thinking carefully about customers and employees when you’re making a decision. Some actions that might seem to improve the bottom line might harm people and morale along the way. Beware. Listen to employees and customers and follow-up on their feedback. Above all, be accountable for your actions.~ A. Reynolds Alexander, excerpted Jesus’ message is not just for the mind, it is directed at the heart. Is it possible to climb the corporate ladder without compromising the high ideals of Knighthood? The secret of my success? It is simple. It is found in the Bible, “In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths.” ~ George Washington Carver
