November 1 - All Saints' Day

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God: blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God: blessed are they that are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.  ~Matt. 5: 8-10

All Saints' Day is for all the known and unknown saints who have died and gone before us and who are at rest with Christ. Simply put, to be a saint is to do God's will each day throughout one's life to the best of one's ability. This is God's call for each of us who have been brought into His Body, the Church, through Baptism. The origin of this feast day can be traced back to the 4th century. Ephrem of Syria and John Chrysostom, both Eastern Church Fathers, called this day the feast of martyrs of the whole world. Pope Gregory IV (827-844) made November 1st as the feast day for all the Saints.

How does our council remember our deceased brothers? Are you a Knight who each day lives his faith the best that he can?

God, you allow us to honour all Your Saints in one common festival. Through the prayers of so many intercessors grant us an abundance of Your merciful favours which we so greatly desire. Amen.
