November 2 ~ All Souls

UNITY is climbing into a neighbor’s lap

Amen, amen, I say to you, the hour is coming and is now here when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live.  ~ John 5:25

Author and lecturer, Leo Buscaglia, once talked about a contest he was asked to judge. The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child.
The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife.
Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman’s yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there.
When his mother asked him what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said, “Nothing... I just helped him cry.”  ~ Fr. Pat Umberger http://frpat.com/

Remember our Order’s admonition, “Time flies, remember death”…

How do you honor those who have died?  What do your actions say about your belief in the resurrection of the dead (see 2 Maccabees 12)?  What has our council done to remember fallen Knights?

It is a good and holy deed to pray for the dead.
~ 2 Maccabees 12:44-45 (paraphrased)

Never let anything so fill you with sorrow as to make you forget for one moment the joy of Christ risen.~ Mother Teresa
