The St Rose of Lima council was formed in the summer of 2000
and chartered on August 23, 2000 which is also the feast day
of St Rose of Lima and our church's anniversary. Our growing
church community, under the persistent guidance of Pastor Patrick
Dolan, was able to form a new council as the new millenium approached.
The charter members numbered 44 and included transfers from
surrounding councils and new members to the order. The charter
officers were as follows: Chaplain - Rev. Pat Dolan, Grand Knight
- Steve Martinez, Deputy Grand Knight - Rich Casias, Chancellor
- Paul Martinez, Recorder - Phil Ibarra, Treasurer - Alan Marsh,
Advocate - Jim Deslongchamp, Warden - Bud Lederhos, Inside Guard
- Rich Lopez, Outside Guard - Justin Ibarra, Trustee, 1 yr -
Sam Sena, Trustee, 2 yr - Robert Mansanares, Trustee, 3 yr -
Clyde Martinez (see photo below).
The Ladies Auxiliary was formed in the winter of 2001, only
several months after the council formation. Their membership
consists of wifes, mothers, sisters and daughters of knights.
Our focus in our first years as a new council was to grow our
membership and to support our church and school. In our first
year, we accomplished the following: established a council newsletter,
participated in Tootsie Roll Campaign, held council free throw
contest, designed and began producing council vests, joined
the Knights to Christ campaign, unveiled council banner, conducted
Stations of the Cross during Lent, hosted 1st district corporate
communion including breakfast, participated in St Patrick's
Day Parade, completed several construction activities at the
church, held 1st annual council picnic. At the State Convention,
we ranked 5th in Division 1A.
